Research on Prefabricated Composite Drainage Systems of Retaining Walls.
Current research done by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) analyzes a more cost & time effective, durable, and comparable drainage system than that of the traditional practice of the ODOT. Prefabricated composite drainage systems (PCDS) were used as alternative drainage structures for comparison to traditional systems. Laboratory property testing, application evaluation, and cost analysis was completed to determine the more efficient and usable system. It was determined that PCDS systems cost 40% less than the traditional process and both types of systems have comparable flow and drainage measures. This has caused the ODOT to begin drafting specifications and construction requirements for PCDS systems. PCDS can now be used more commonly in ODOT projects.
